Summary

Winterfell
The Stark sisters continue their dangerous rivalry with Littlefinger doing all he can to stoke the flames. Arya confronts Sansa over her role in their father’s death, producing the letter she sent Robb at the behest of Cersei and her small council (which included Littlefinger). They trade barbs with Arya threatening to show the letter to the Lords and Ladies, deducing that Sansa’s argument of being “just a child” will not get her far with the likes of Lyanna Mormont. Sansa seeks Littlefinger’s counsel, he points out that Brienne would surely intercede should one of Catelyn Stark’s daughters try to kill the other. Sansa considers this and when she receives a raven requesting her presence in King’s Landing she sends Brienne as her representative. Sansa goes in search of the letter, but instead makes the gruesome discovery of Arya’s bag of faces. Arya makes it clear she could take Sansa’s face and become the Lady of Winterfell, but leaves Sansa with her dagger instead.

Gendry is able to outrun the wights and makes it to the Wall.

Dragonstone
Daenerys muses to Tyrion on the unreliability of heroes as they tend to take foolish risks comparing Jon to Drogo and Daario. Their conversation turns to King’s Landing and what traps Cersei may be laying. Daenerys proposes a show of force, but Tyrion counsels that while she needs a healthy degree of fear, she cannot rule through fear alone, as it will make her power vulnerable as Cersei’s is. When Tyrion attempts to bring up her options for succession she shuts him down.

Receiving news of Jon and Jorah’s predicament Daenerys is at once resolved to fly North. Tyrion attempts to dissuade her to no avail. Daenerys sets off on Drogon’s back with Viserion and Rhaegal in tow.
Daenerys Targaryen earns 2 Call The Banners points for leading her dragons to battle beyond the wall and 1 Magic point for riding a dragon.

Beyond the Wall
Thoros dies in the night as the group remains stranded. Bored Sandor throws rocks at the surrounding dead, but when one falls short and skids over the ice the wights seem to realize that if they do not approach in a horde they can reach the island without breaking the ice. The group is on the verge of being overwhelmed when they hear the cry of a dragon. Daenerys arrives with her dragons bathing the dead in flame. She reaches her hand out to Jon but he fights off the wights allowing Jorah, Sandor, Tormund, and Beric to climb on Drogon. The Night King looks on unphased as a White Walker hands him an ice spear. He launches it with deadly precision at Viserion who crashes to the ground and slides beneath the ice, dead.
