A shocking season ends with a shocking finale in season 4 episode 10, The Children. Tyrion sends his father tumbling down the leaderboard to last place. Littlefinger’s plots and manipulations land him in first place. Arya Stark’s thirst for vengeance leads her to second place. With Joffrey’s sudden demise a new villain has worked his way onto the landscape, Ramsay Snow, now Bolton finds himself in third place.

Jon sets out to the wildling camp. Mance is not particularly pleased to see the traitor. Jon claims he has come to discuss terms and Mance reveals he had sent 400 men over the Wall the night before far from the battle. He says he does not wish to conquer but seeks safe passage through the Night’s Watch tunnel to escape the Wight Walkers. Mance soon realizes Jon’s true purpose is to kill him, but their confrontation is interrupted by an attack. It is not the Night’s Watch, but Stannis Baratheon.
Seeing his men cut down by Stannis’ cavalry Mance surrenders, but refuses to kneel. Davos question Jon what a man of the Watch is doing in the camp. Jon introduces himself as Ned Stark’s son, noting his father died for Stannis’ claim to the throne. Stannis is impressed, having respected Ned Stark and seems to take Jon’s advice to heart when he tells him to listen to what Mance has to say and to burn the bodies of the dead.
Stannis Baratheon earns 3 Victory points for defeating Mance’s army and 1 Capture point for taking him into custody.
Davos Seaworth earns 3 Victory points for defeating Mance’s army.
Mance Rayder receives -3 Defeat points for surrendering to Stannis and -1 Capture point for being apprehended by Stannis.
Cersei watches as Qyburn and Pycelle attend to Gregor Clegane. They believe he was poisoned by Oberyn’s blade in the trial by combat. Pycelle deems it a lost cause, but Qyburn claims he can save him. Cersei dismisses Pycelle and gives Qyburn use of his laboratory over Pycelle’s strenuous objections. Qyburn assures her he can revive Clegane without diminishing his strength.
Qyburn earns 3 Alliance points for earning Cersei’s trust and displacing Pycelle.
Cersei Lannister earns 3 Alliance points for putting her trust in Qyburn over Pycelle.
Cersei meets with Tywin and declares she will not marry Loras Tyrell. The two argue, but Cersei drops a bombshell. Should he force her to marry she will tell the world the truth of she and Jaime. Tywin is shocked having always believed the rumors to be malicious gossip. She goes to Jaime who is still brooding over Tyrion’s fate. She dismisses their younger brother and tells him of her conversation with Tywin. She makes it clear that she has chosen him and she and Jaime have sex in the Kingsguard chambers.

In Meereen Daenerys holds court and is disturbed by an elderly man’s petition to allow him to sell himself into slavery. He tells her he is too old to learn to live in this new world and she reluctantly agrees. The next petitioner is a shepherd carrying a sack of bones. He breaks down revealing they are the remains of his daughter killed by Drogon. Horrified Daenerys commands her dragons be restrained. Drogon escapes but Rhaegal and Viserion are chained in one of Meereen’s pyramids. Daenerys eyes fill with tears as she closes in the dragons while they call after her.
Back at the Wall Maester Aemon presides over funeral rites for the fallen brothers of the Night’s Watch. Selyse and Shireen Baratheon look on as the funeral pyres are lit. Through the flames Jon gets his first glimpse of Lady Melisandre. Jon goes to Tormund who angrily asks what’s to be done with him, but Jon does not know what Stannis plans to do with his prisoners. Jon asks if the wildlings have any parting words they would want said over their dead, but Tormund laughs saying the dead can’t hear us. He tells Jon that Ygritte loved him and that she belongs in the true North. Jon complies and burns her body near a heart tree north of the Wall.
Farther North Bran, Meera, Jojen, and Hodor have finally reached the great heart tree of their visions. They walk towards a tunnel at the tree’s base, but find themselves under attack by skeletal wights. Bran wargs into Hodor allowing him to smash through the wights. As Hodor and Meera battle Jojen sees two wights approaching Bran. Meera defeats the wight attacking her and turns to see Jojen being stabbed. The wights are closing in on Bran’s unprotected body but he is saved by the interference of Leaf a child of the forest. She calls to Meera still cradling her brother that Jojen is lost and she must save herself. Another wave of wights approaches and Meera slits his throat as a mercy and flees to the cave. Leaf launches another fireball to prevent Jojen rising as a wight. The rushing wights explode upon entering the cave and Leaf explains “The power that moves them is powerless here.” She leads them to the Three Eyed Raven who tells Bran that he will never walk again, but he will fly.
Bran Stark earns 1 Magic point for warging into Hodor, 1 Morghulis point for killing wights as Hodor, 3 Victory points for reaching the Three Eyed Raven, and 3 Alliance points for the protection of Three Eyed Raven and the Children of the Forest.
Hodor earns 1 Magic point for being warged by Bran, 1 Morghulis point for killing wights under Bran’s control, 3 Victory points for reaching the Three Eyed Raven, and 3 Alliance points for the protection of Three Eyed Raven and the Children of the Forest.
Meera Reed earns 4 Morghulis points for killing wights and mercy killing her brother, Jojen, 3 Victory points for reaching the Three Eyed Raven, and 3 Alliance points for the protection of the Three Eyed Raven and the Children of the Forest.
Jojen Reed receives -1 Wound point for being stabbed by a wight and -5 Death points for being killed by Meera out of mercy, 3 Victory points for leading Bran to the Three Eyed Raven, and 3 Alliance points for Leaf’s prevention of him rising as a wight.
Leaf earns 1 Morghulis points for killing wights, 3 Victory points for stopping the wights from killing Bran, and 3 Alliance points for protecting Bran, Meera, and Hodor.
The Three Eyed Raven earns 3 Victory points for reaching Bran and 3 Alliance points for protecting Bran, Meera, and Hodor.
The Night King earns 3 Defeat points for failing to stop Bran from reaching the Three Eyed Raven.
On the road Brienne and Pod wake to find their horses gone forcing them to make the journey on foot. They come across Arya practicing with Needle. Arya is at first enamored with the woman in armor but becomes distrustful when Pod recognizes Sandor as the Hound and concludes she must be Arya. Brienne tries to explain her oath to Cat, but Sandor believes she is after the bounty on his head. She begs Arya to come with her, but she refuses. Sandor says there is no safe places anymore and he will watch over Arya. Brienne and Sandor commence a brutal fight. Brienne eventually gets the upper hand, severely wounding Sandor and sending him over the rocks, but in the fray she and Pod have lost sight of Arya. Arya finds Sandor at the bottom of the rocks. He tells her he is dying and asks for her to give him the mercy of death, but she only stares coldly at him, steals his gold, and walks away.
Sandor “The Hound” Clegane receives -3 Defeat points for being bested by Brienne and -1 Wound point for his injuries.
Brienne of Tarth earns 3 Victory points for defeating the Hound and 1 Wound point for injuring him.
Arya Stark earns 3 Revenge points for refusing Sandor the gift of mercy as punishment for killing her friend.
In King’s Landing Tyrion sits in his cell waiting for death, but is surprised to see Jaime instead. He has come to help Tyrion escape, giving him the keys and explaining Varys is waiting for him. However, Tyrion instead uses a small hidden passage to sneak into the Tower of the Hand. There he finds Shae in his father’s bed. Thinking it is Tywin she addresses him as “My Lion,” once her pet name for Tyrion, but upon seeing him she grabs a knife. He strangles her to death with her bed sheets. He takes a crossbow and finds his father sitting on the privy. Tywin quickly deduces Jaime freed him and says they can speak in his chambers, but Tyrion does not lower the crossbow. He confronts his father for wanting him dead and Tywin claims he is impressed by Tyrion’s apparent skill at survival despite Tywin’s efforts. When Tywin refers to Shae as a whore Tyrion warns that if he uses that word again he will shoot him. Tywin tempts fate and Tyrion rises to the challenge shooting his father twice with the crossbow. He reaches Varys who immediately realizes all has not gone as planned. He stuffs Tyrion into a crate and waits to board a ship to the free cities knowing he is no longer safe in King’s Landing.
Tyrion Lannister earns 3 Alliance points for Jaime and Varys plot to help him escape, -3 Betrayal points for finding Shae in his father’s bed, 10 Morghulis points and 3 Revenge points for killing Shae and Tywin, and 1 Survival point for escaping King’s Landing.

Arya makes her way to a port town and attempts to book passage to the Wall. The captain Ternesio Terys refuses her gold and tells her they are headed for home, Braavos. Arya tells him she has something else and produces the coin given to her by Jaqen H’ghar and repeats the phrase “Valar Morghulis” he responds “Valar Dohaeris” and agrees she will have a cabin.
Arya Stark earns 3 Alliance points for convincing the captain to take her aboard and 1 Survival point for escaping Westeros.
Ternesio Terys earns 3 Alliance points for agreeing to give Arya passage.
